I guess that the confort level of the many service and active combat experienced troops do not matter. I am now glad that I am retired because if they forced me to serve with a gay soldier I would refuse because I knew that I would be dressing in front of him. I would be more offended by the fact that they lied to my face and or my command by decieving us than I would for for them to just come out and say I am gay and get discharged. The military will spend money accomidating for a bunch of gay and lesbian soldiers. Instead of using the money for better reason like body armor and weapons/equipment. Good going Sec. Gates way to fall through and dissappoint your troops. Funny how the opinion of a navy service member who has no combat experience realted to frontline troops thinks he can speak for them. The opinion of Adm. Mullen does not reflect those of the units that I proudly serve with. And all of the soldiers I was proud to call my brothers all agree “NO GAYS IN COMBAT ARMS” I challenge officially JD Smith or whoever you are to actually call me on the phone to debate this and I guarantee that I would win. Because he prolly isnt a frontline soldier anyway.

Jason don’t be a pointy -headed dumbass–you are ALREADY showering with, taking orders from, giving orders to (well maybe not, you seem to be E-1 material) Gay and Lesbian soldiers, just now since by order of the CiC you have to pull your head out of the sand and that makes you uncomfortable–well man up soldier and do what your Commander in Chief orders. The military isn’t a babysitting service, so if you are unable to get over your “discomfort” about supporting Freedom and Fairness, very American values I point out, then get out out of the service and into a 10% unemployment rate and a civilian workforce that ALREADY allows Gays and Lesbians to serve openly.

Your selfish short-sightedness is not only ridiculous but offensive. How is you think the military will ‘cater’ to GLB people? And at the cost of body armor or equipment. Seriously? I cannot seriously believe that your discomfort about simply knowing someone is GLB when you are ALREADY serving with GLB members is your big argument. Grow up and get come out of the cave.

I guess you cannot read but I will say it again. I have never and will never serve with gays. Then men I served with are honorable and the best of the best. Not some liberal, ACLU, cum guzzlers, who take it in the ass with baseball bats. We used the word “fag” and “cock sucker”, and “homo” to demoralize weak people. So what do you think we are going to do when we find out someone in the unit comes in out of basic and says “I take dick in my ass!” We will make life hell for him. And I am a SGT. So i will put his ass on every fucking detail, worthless job, shit burning detail( although he should be used to seeing shit since he puts his dick in another guys ass) guard duty I can!!!! I served and with men from all nationalities and I respect them all! Even the ones who joined for citizenship. But ass fucking cock suckers I draw the line!!! So the president and the officers appointed over me can all kiss my ass!!!!

If you’ve been in the military for more than 17 years, then, entrance was under fraudulent circumstances. Regardless of what you think, the law is still the law. Besides, abstinence for 17 years, really?

    • a friend

concur, the law is the law and the dream act is similar. I have no problems with gays, but, when we act above the law, then we are nor doing it right from the beginning.

@ hopespringsaturtle-Its E-5 material tyvm. But to the point, the men I served with are not homosexual! Dont disgrace them by classifying them with that kind. And the law was and is the law till the president signs it. I have no problem with gays out in the world. But when I am forced to be naked or share a room with them thats where I draw the line. I dont know why all of you assume that all soldiers are gay. Being gay is a choice, just like I made a choice that I like woman and not men. Showering is the point, forcing gays to shower with straight soldiers is just like forcing straight men to shower with ladies. And all the men I have served with I know for sure they are straight. My unit doesnt have some cock gazers in it! We are not the navy which seems to be full of gays. By making that choice they knew the law and broke it so they deserve to be treated just like anyone else that breaks the law. THEY ARE CRIMINALS! Gays do not belong in combat arms. They can integrate them in the other 80% of the army or better yet stick to the navy and airforce those are pretty much civilian jobs anyway. But the point being that I am not alone I have talked to all the soldiers in my old platton and they all agree. So I dont care if Obama or anyone else says anything. I make my own choices. I will not serve with gays. So go back to your liberal ACLU(the downfall of this country) buddies and tell them I said hi. I am being honest and hope it wont happen but I know it will. When they enforce this stupid policy there will be a huge backlash from the combat soldiers. Alot of good soldiers will not stay in the army. They would rather quit than to accept this. Which is a shame because they are the best at what they do. That is why I believe the Army and marines will not let gays serve in combat just like they will not let woman.

@Jason Stewart. 1 out of every 5 males has homosexual tendencies!!!! So how about you count all the service members from your paltoon and make sure. Everyone has seceret lives I wouldn’t be shocked if after this one of your members comes out but not to you because your a egotisitcal racialist.Everyone is intitaled to the their opinons but yours are outragous. I am in the navy and for you to single out the AF and USN for having the most gays in their service is rediculious. What substancial proof do you have thats states this… please let me know cause I would surely like to see. Let me remind you that gay acts does not mean you are gay. Your accustations are vial, and shouldn’t be tolerated. People join the armed forces because they feel a need to help this country and do anything that they can. Hmm lets take a look a single mother who has no job and two kids is living in a hut and needs food for her children so she takes a little bread from the bakers each day without him noticing. Is this wrong? Is she breaking a law? Isn’t she a CRIMINAL. You need to realize that people are there to help other it shouldn’t matter where they come from or what they do in their personal lives. As long as they are able to complete their job with effectivness and respect towards others, there should be no issue.

Oh and btw “brotherly love”, in the marines is gay your having sex with another man! Get it right get it tight!

I think we could use more gay troops.  Most people seem so depressed these days.

SGT. Stewart, I am a retired E-7 gay man who did 20+ yrs. I truly hope that when the policy of DADT is nullified and it allows those “uncomfortable” to leave the service YOU are the first one out. They say if you are not part of the solution, then you are part of the problem. I did my time in the “closet” yet those around had suspicion and would joke with me about being a “pole smoker”, NOBODY ever treated me with dis-respect because of their suspicions. I was in the Navy and in my 20+ years, I only came across 3 men who I sensed were gay. When you raised your right hand to join the Army, you took an oath to follow the orders of those assigned above you ….including our Commander in Chief.
Although you are bigoted, cruel, insubordinate and homophobic, I would choose not to serve with you because of your ignorance about gays and lesbians serving in the Military. First and foremost, like other’s who have a problem eating/sleeping/showering with a Military Member who is out, what makes you think that a gay soldier would have interest in you at anytime. You sure think confident of your “looks” that you would be a target of desire. Just like “straight” people, gay and lesbian women are selective in what is attractive to them. I know that as a male in a locker room and ship’s berthing situation, men will still do a “pecker check” if only to measure up their peer. That DOES NOT make you a homosexual it is human nature.
Studies show that 10% of the male population is either gay or has gay tendencies…so look around at the 9 other Soldiers in your unit and see who it is because they are there. You need to come to an understanding and trust that they have your back in a hostile situation doing their job to keep you alive. There will and should be a standard of conduct for both orientations serving today. When the DADT policy is rightfully changed, the new policies will be put in place and I hope enforced even for a gay or lesbian who crosses the line on conduct and behavior.
SGT. Stewart, the biggest thing that really scares me about you is that you may or will have children. It is truly sad to think that they will be raised in a home of intolerance. They will be exposed to so many ways of life in their growing years and most exposure will be that there are others not like them….raising your children with the acceptance of the difference is the greatest gift you can give that will allow them to be open to all life hast to offer. If you are not yet a father, check with medical….they can arrange a free vasectomy.
